The Illuminate History
Illuminate began as an ambitious vision to create an Unschool of Witchcraft, focused on bringing an eclectic and inclusive practice of witchcraft into the world. Sunshine, the founder, sought to inspire witches everywhere to embrace their magickal paths without limitation or judgment. However, Sunshine experienced a profound wake-up call when Spirit revealed her true purpose: to serve witches in recovery. This pivotal moment reshaped Illuminate’s mission, anchoring it in recovery and spiritual empowerment.
Guided by this divine revelation, Sunshine shifted Illuminate’s focus to align with the needs of witches navigating sobriety. What started as an exploration of diverse witchcraft practices transformed into a sanctuary for recovery and healing. Since then, Illuminate has grown into a thriving community that combines transformative tools, programs, and rituals to inspire lasting change and personal growth.
What started as a personal mission has blossomed into a multifaceted platform, including the creation of the Sober Witch Life Mobile App, The Recovery Coven, and Illuminate: The Unschool of Sober Witchcraft. Illuminate continues to evolve, reflecting the needs of its members and embracing innovative ways to support their journeys.

Sunshine, known as The Pink-Haired Sober Witch, is the heart and soul behind Illuminate. A psychic medium, high priestess, and award-winning software product manager, Sunshine’s journey to recovery has been deeply personal and transformational. Her sobriety date, October 9th, 2019, marks the beginning of a new chapter in her life—one focused on helping witches in recovery align with their highest purpose.
