This week’s episode of The Witchual Hour is a sacred celebration of the magick, strength, and wisdom of the Indigenous peoples of the Americas.
On Monday, I attended the Indigenous Peoples Pow Wow at Hart Plaza in Detroit, the first pow wow held there in thirty years. Standing among the dancers, drummers, and families, I could feel the heartbeat of the Earth pulsing beneath my feet. It was more than an event; it was a remembering.
The land we now call Michigan is the ancestral home of the Council of the Three Fires, the collective of the Anishinaabe nations: the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi. Their songs, languages, and teachings are woven into this soil and continue to shape the spiritual rhythm of this place.
As I walked away from the river that night, Spirit made it clear that this week’s episode needed to be an offering. A moment to honor the ancestors of this land through sound, prayer, and story.
I’m joined on the show by a dear friend whose tribe is part of the Ojibwe nation. Before we open our circle, she’ll introduce herself and, if she’s willing, share a land blessing to ground us in gratitude and right relationship. From there, we step into a curated musical ceremony, a collection of songs that celebrate Indigenous artistry, identity, and resilience.

The Magickal Moment
This week’s Magickal Moment invites listeners to create a simple Ancestral Smoke Offering in gratitude to the original stewards of the land they call home.
Light cedar, sage, or sweetgrass, and as the smoke rises, whisper:
“May my steps honor the ones who walked before me.”
This act transforms gratitude into energy, a bridge between you, your ancestors, and the spirit of the land.
Closing Blessing
As the drums fade and the circle closes, may this music remind us that healing and sovereignty are inseparable. The Earth remembers. The ancestors remember. And through our own recovery, so do we.
